Christianity has survived thousands of years of insults, criticism ,persecution etc ,yet those who believe in it do not throw tantrums or get offended whenever somebody expresses his or her disagreeable opinion about it. Islam, on the other hand ,tries to force people not insult it or criticise it. Trouble is: The intolerance stems from the very founder of that bogus religion called Mohammed.

If he didn't want his nephew to "parish" he should have tried harder to convince him to abandon his traditional beliefs when he was (still) alive. Conducting a Christian burial, an Islamic burial, a traditional burial, etc etc, for someone after they are dead does not change their beliefs in the grave, and certainly doesn't benefit them in any way.

To those asking why the pastor was preaching the Lord Jesus Christ at the funeral, you need to understand that Christ came to save sinners therefore it’s important to preach to them where they’re gathered. Some are asking why he didn’t convert his nephew while he was alive, it is not the job of the preacher to convert anyone. His job is to preach the truth to you, pray for you etc the sinner’s job is to give up his sins and yield to the influence of the preaching. No one will make you convert if you’re not willing to do so. His nephew is gone but he’s concerned about the souls of those who are still alive. They’ll wish he preached louder and longer if they end up in the wrong place in eternity. To those of you who are quick to mock and tear down preachers of the gospel, REPENT. Prepare to meet your creator.

Have the religious groups and traditionalists who conduct prayers for the dead ever presented any evidence that their prayers have in any way benefited the dead? Humans all over the world have engaged in practices like praying for the souls of the dead to receive forgiveness from God and to be allowed entry into God's kingdom. Unfortunately, such practice continues today even though many religious teachings have it that once a person dies, the soul immediately either descends into heaven or hell. So why then the prayers? It's so because humans are for the most part followers, often following without stopping to either ask questions for fear of being ostracized by their peers or merely following because they've been indoctrinated. If prayers can change the fortunes of the dead, then murderers, rapists and other hardened criminals would never have to worry about their evil actions since prayers will help their souls to sail into the God's kingdom. No human knows exactly what happens to upon one's death, regardless of the various forms of prayers held for the dead across the globe. I don't know what P. Djamgbe's view is on the issue you raised, but felt it necessary to share mine. The world is a mystery that can't be unraveled, and so too is the aftermath of death.
