A widow and mother of seven Veronica Asare have appealed for help, claiming she is being haunted by the spirit of her late husband after spending GH¢30,000 out of GH¢40,000 meant for the care of their children on another man.

According to Veronica, following her husband’s death, the family mobilised the amount from the man’s pension scheme to support the upbringing and welfare of the children.

However, she later entered a relationship with a man identified as Elder Ebenezer of Continuation church in Bekwai Dompoase, who promised to marry her and had reportedly visited her family.

Speaking on Ayerepa Afutuo, a programme that addresses domestic issues, on April 30, 2026, the widow said the man convinced her to give him the money under the pretext of investing it.

She explained that he told her he had an investment that had not yet matured and was also undertaking a building project, for which he needed financial support. He allegedly assured her that he would refund the money once the investment matured.

“Elder Ebenezer came into my life and promised to marry me. He told me he had money in the bank that he wanted to use for marriage and to build his house. I told him the money was not mine but he insisted I give it to him and promised to return it,” she said.

The widow said she gave him the money, believing his promises. However, when her eldest son was due to enter secondary school, she was unable to raise funds for his education.

She further claimed that since the incident, she has been experiencing what she describes as spiritual attacks from her late husband, whom she believes is demanding that the money be used to care for their children.

She said she has been feeling unwell and attributes it to these experiences.

“After giving him the money, three months later, he stopped picking my calls and I have not heard from him since.”

“My late husband’s spirit is also troubling me, so I came here to seek help and to find him,” she added.
