Black Stars midfielder, Daniel Kofi Kyereh
Black Stars midfielder, Daniel Kofi Kyereh has opened up on how a timely phone call from former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah helped him navigate one of the most difficult periods of his career.
The Black Stars midfielder, who earned his senior debut in 2021, was sidelined for nearly three years after suffering a serious cruciate ligament injury in 2022.
Kofi Kyereh only made his return to action last month, featuring for SC Freiburg II as he continues his recovery and gradual reintegration into competitive football.
Speaking in an interview with JoySports, the 29-year-old revealed that a surprise call from Stephen Appiah during his rehabilitation proved to be a turning point mentally.
Appiah, who experienced similar knee injury setbacks during his own playing days, reached out with words of encouragement that left a lasting impact.
“During my time in rehab, he called me. I was so surprised and honoured to receive his call. He’s such a nice guy."
"He gave me some really encouraging words and motivated me to come back stronger,” Daniel Kofi Kyereh said.
