The Bank of Ghana has dismissed claims of political affiliation in its recent engagement with a group of X (formerly Twitter) content creators over delayed payments, clarifying that the meeting was strictly financial in nature.

In a statement issued on May 4, 2026, the central bank said the engagement held on April 22, 2026, was strictly to address concerns raised by the creators over delays in receiving funds.

“The Bank of Ghana met with a group of X platform content creators on 22 April 2026, to address challenges with delayed receipt of funds,” the statement said.

The Bank stressed that the group approached it purely as stakeholders seeking a practical solution to a financial issue.

“We state categorically that this group has no political affiliation. They engaged the Bank solely as concerned content creators seeking a practical resolution to a legitimate issue,” it emphasised.

The central bank further noted that it is working to resolve the delays, which relate to funds classified as export proceeds.

It assured that measures are being implemented to reduce delays and improve the payment process.

“The Bank takes these concerns seriously and is implementing measures to significantly reduce the turnaround time for receiving funds,” it added.

The Bank of Ghana also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s digital economy and ensuring smooth financial processes for online earners.
