Ghanaian politician and former Member of Parliament for the Garu Constituency, Akuka Albert Alalzuuga, has lauded the Guinea Fowl Bazaar for its role in promoting unity and projecting a positive image of Northern Ghana.

Speaking with GhanaWeb during the event on May 1, 2026, he noted that the initiative is helping to change long-standing perceptions about the northern part of the country.

“Anytime you hear about the north, mostly, it’s associated with conflicts. But here is someone who’s coming up with an idea, an event that is attracting media and the country’s attention, which is positive. It’s something that’s bringing new development,” he said.

He commended the organisers, particularly Matilda Pipio and her team at Faith Catering Services, for spearheading the initiative aimed at promoting northern culture and products.

“I want to congratulate Matilda and her team for coming up with this beautiful idea of selling the north. It’s particularly good because it’s not specific to any tribe. It’s for the whole north because we all breed guinea fowls,” he stated.

According to him, the event has successfully brought together various ethnic groups from northern Ghana, creating a platform for unity and collaboration.

“We are happy for the effort of putting us together. We can all see that all the ethnic groups from the north are here and they’re all associated with what they’re doing,” he shared.

Guinea Fowl Bazaar brings Northern Culture to Accra in grand style

Akuka Albert Alalzuuga further highlighted the economic benefits of the bazaar, stating that it is creating a market for guinea fowl and encouraging increased production.

“You’re creating a market for our product and we want to encourage everyone to produce more guinea fowls. This is the first time in Accra, but the subsequent ones, we are going to see larger crowds, more market for our guinea fowls and we’re going to create more jobs for our people and Ghana at large,” he explained.

He also urged young people from the north to embrace creativity and entrepreneurship, drawing inspiration from the organisers.

“The young men and women from the north should also come up with creative ideas, such as what Faith Catering Services is doing,” he said.

He pledged his support for the initiative and expressed optimism about its future growth.

“Congratulations to Matilda for this initiative. We’re with you and we’ll support you in whatever way we can to ensure that it succeeds. Next year, we’ll have another one which will be bigger than this,” he added.
