Ghanaian sprinter Abdul-Rasheed Saminu
Ghanaian sprinter Abdul-Rasheed Saminu has clarified his earlier concerns about the Ghana’s 4x100m relay team's preparations, confirming that the issues have now been addressed as the team shifts focus to upcoming international competitions.
In a press release issued by Sports & Business Transformation Ltd on May 4, 2026, the athlete sought to calm tensions following remarks he made regarding the team’s build-up to the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana.
According to the statement, Saminu’s concerns were motivated by his desire to see improved preparation structures that would enhance performance and results for the national team.
However, it acknowledged that his comments were not communicated in line with his original intent.
The release confirmed that the issues raised have since been “positively and effectively addressed” by the relevant authorities, paving the way for renewed focus and unity within the team.
It also referenced a previous confrontation with media personnel, which led to unintended reactions from the athlete.
Saminu has since engaged stakeholders to clarify his position, describing his actions as part of a broader commitment to contributing to a more supportive and progressive sports ecosystem.
The statement called on fans and stakeholders to rally behind the sprinter as he prepares to represent Ghana on home soil at the African Senior Athletics Championships.
