Do we need to blame the Medical Doctor and Nurses on duty for not providing the emergency treatment to the Patient and he unfortunately died.
Ghana’s population has grown big but we don’t have the infrastructure and other resources to take care of emergency situations at our hospitals. It is very terribly bad at KORLEBU and KATH. Sometimes it becomes so ugly that some Patients sent there will be lying on the floor, waiting till thy Kingdom comes to be treated. Out of frustration, some Patient return home without treatment. We are wasting much money on Politics and Politicians. Can’t we have District Medical hospitals with enough personnel to handle issues for many emergency treatments? All what most of our Politicians and people at High Places do is just embezzle money and stupidly play Politics with everything. Our systems are too corrupt and very inefficient. How do we expect our Healthcare workers to give up their best when some work for months and years without regular pay. Can the Army march on an empty stomach. Pay them well and regularly and they shall give up their best.

The " No Bed" phenomenom is a deep seated, caused by institutional and policy failure, for which a few young doctors should not be singled out for blame, as unfortunate as this incident is. At the heart of it, is a lack of dedicated financing for emergency care despite a National Emergency Care Policy. That is why almost all private hospitals, would turn hit and run emergencies, away, though unlawful. Public hospitsls are therefore made to bear the brunt, at the expense of their IGF's, without any hope of re-imbursement. Unrestricted admissions especially of undocumented, non-insured, payment unworthy clients, is tantoumount to financial collapse for any hospital.The policy makers know this, so do the hospital managers. That is why hospital mangers tacitly allow it to go on. Simply compelling hospitals to admit every emergency, without the necessary expertise or capacity, would seem a good political move, but medically would just worsen the state of emergency care, than it is now.
