Lawyer and energy analyst Kwame Jantuah has urged Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo to take a more significant step by personally visiting the Yaa Naa, the Overlord of Dagbon, along with her party members, to apologise for her recent controversial comments.

Linda Ocloo, speaking during a demolition exercise at the Sakumono Ramsar Site on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, warned officials against issuing illegal building permits, stating that some officers had been transferred to the northern regions as a form of punishment.

Her remarks have, however, been widely criticised as disrespectful and stereotypical towards the people of northern Ghana.

The backlash prompted the minister to issue a public apology on May 6, 2026, describing the comments as a “genuine slip in communication” that did not reflect her views or government policy on staff postings.

Despite her apology, Jantuah, during a panel discussion on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning programme on Thursday, May 7, 2026, disagreed with her form of apology and instead urged her to visit the chief of the region and render a proper apology with her party members.

“Linda Ocloo should go a step further, visit the Yaa Naa with her party members and apologise for the comments she made.

“She should go a step further and see the Yaa Naa and apologise to him for the comments she made. If she does that, the problem will be solved. It’s not a question of her head. She has wronged a certain part of the country,” he stated.

He further explained: “If anybody says something wrong about Otumfuo, you have to go there and apologise, and so that is what she should do with the party people behind her to go to the north and apologise to the Yaa Naa. That is where she has apologised, but if you sit in your office and write a letter, that is not an apology.”
