Four people have been burnt beyond recognition following a devastating head-on collision involving two vehicles near Anyinasin Junction in the Eastern Region in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The crash involved a Hyundai Mighty truck with registration number GE 1913-16, which was travelling from Asamankese towards Bunso, and a Man Diesel trailer with registration number GS 236-12, travelling from Kumasi to Accra.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana National Fire Service on May 6, eyewitnesses said the Man Diesel trailer veered off its lane and crashed into the oncoming Hyundai Mighty truck, forcing the smaller vehicle into a nearby bush.

The impact sparked a massive fire outbreak that quickly engulfed both vehicles.

The Bunso Fire Station received a distress call at 5:49am and arrived at the scene at 6:00am, by which time the fire had fully developed.

Firefighters led by ADO II Emmanuel Otam Annan immediately began firefighting operations, bringing the blaze under control at 6:25am before fully extinguishing it at 6:50am.
