Akosombo Dam shut down after GRIDCo Substation fire
The new leadership officially assumed office on May 8, 2026, and is expected to play a key role in ensuring efficient electricity transmission across Ghana and within the West African Power Pool.
GRIDCo has urged staff to provide the necessary cooperation and support to the new executives to enable them to deliver on their mandate and achieve organisational goals.
The institution recently experienced a major setback following a fire outbreak at the Akosombo control room, which disrupted electricity transmission and supply in many parts of the country. The situation has since stabilised.
This leadership change at GRIDCo comes as management seeks to enhance operational efficiency and stabilise the national grid amid recent challenges in power supply.
