Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Elikplim Akurugu
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Elikplim Akurugu, became emotional as she appealed to the government to urgently fix the deplorable road leading to the Ga East Municipal Hospital.
The MP made the passionate appeal during a visit to the hospital to celebrate Mother’s Day with mothers and patients at the facility.
According to her, she could not hide her emotions after witnessing the poor state of the road leading to the hospital, which she said poses serious danger to pregnant women, patients, health workers and emergency services.
In an emotional moment, the lawmaker went on her knees and pleaded with the Roads Minister and the contractor handling the project to urgently repair the road.
“We beg you. It can be anybody. It can be me in an emergency. It can be my sister here. Please, we beg you in the name of God,” she pleaded.
She lamented that the condition of the road has worsened to the extent that some emergency patients struggle to reach the hospital safely.

“When there is an emergency, before some patients get to the hospital, they are almost dead. The road is just deplorable. Please come to our aid,” she said.
The MP stressed that her appeal was not politically motivated but purely humanitarian.
“This is not political. It is about humanity. You never know who may need emergency care on this road one day,” she added.
According to her, she has already engaged the Roads Minister, Kwame Governs Agbodza, as well as the contractor, Oswald Construction, over the condition of the road.
She disclosed that despite the engagements, the road remains in a terrible state, making transportation to the hospital extremely difficult.
“It’s no longer a pothole; it’s now a manhole,” she remarked.
