Npp thought legal education should be the preserve of the so-called elite. It should be for the JB Danquahs, the Oforis, the Yaboahs and not the Gomdas, Meyiris, not the Adogos. When you have a country where some people think they are more classy than others, tbey are first class citizens, others are second class, how can that country move forward. They made legal education to revolve around certain families, so that the brilliant but needy person can never have access to legal education. Yet you have average persons simply because they are connected to the party and family have access than these needy persons.
Thank God. No profession should ever be made the preserve of a certain family. If your father or mother or uncle or aunti was a CJ or Supreme, Appeal, High or any lower court judge should not make legal education your birthright. Nobody owns anything here on earth.

Good, this must be done for Medical doctors as well. Many capable students have been prevented from doing medicine because of the stringent requirements. In the states Arts students with a mix of science subjects go on to become Doctors. Why should one get straight Ones in all subjects to qualify to read medicine; minimum pass should get you in there to prove yourself, if you fail in your first year then clearly medicine is not for you.

In the past, there used to be an entrance exam to gain admission to medical school, where every student who did science and had an aggregate of up to 24 (the old WAEC Grading system) qualified to compete for medicine. I don't know why that system was changed, and now every medical school wants six As. No wonder our educational system has become theoretically-focused and heavily skewed. Per the current structure, it means that students from less-endowed schools always find it difficult to make it to medical school. You go to the University of Ghana Medical School, and almost 100% of the students are coming from well-endowed schools like Presec, Prempeh, and the like. You might never get a single student coming from a less endowed school because that student could not obtain the six As. Does that mean that a student who attended a well-endowed school and obtained an aggregate of 6 is more intelligent than a student who attended a less-endowed school and obtained 12 or 15? Therefore, that student can't read Medicine? I don't think so. Intelligence is relative and subjective to various conditions. Perhaps, if the student who obtained the 15 had had the opportunity to attend a well. endowed school, he/she would have equally performed well or even better. So, that entrance exam system was a way of giving every candidate an opportunity to prove their worth. Unfortunately, some big people decided to change that system, perhaps it was not favouring them.
