Drama erupted at the National Police Headquarters as senior New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials, including National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) and other party leaders, stormed the facility searching for David Essandoh, the Agona West Constituency Organiser.

In a video shared on Facebook by Adom FM on May 12, 2026, party officials reportedly visited the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to locate Essandoh, popularly known as "Sam Toys," but were unsuccessful.

In the video, the Party General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua and other senior members joined the delegation, demanding immediate access to their colleague and clarity on the charges against him.

Justin Kodua, Nana B, Haruna Mohammed, Salam Mustapha, and other notable party officials were captured calling for the release of the constituency organiser.

Agona West NPP Organiser reportedly arrested

"President Mahama is criminalising free speech. Power will change; free David Essandoh now. We don't know his whereabouts now. President Mahama, your CID, BNI and National Security are criminalising free speech. Why, what did he say?" Nana B and the others were heard declaring in the video

Essandoh was reportedly arrested on Monday evening by a team of about ten armed officers believed to be from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and BNI.

His arrest allegedly stems from a social media post featuring an image of President John Dramani Mahama with the caption “Dumsor is back,” which authorities deemed offensive or worthy of investigation.
