Tobi Amusan continued her dominance on the world athletics scene after storming to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra.
The Nigerian sprint hurdler delivered another commanding performance on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, to clinch gold on the second day of competition at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Amusan, widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest track athletes, showed her class from the start of the race and powered through the hurdles to finish first in the final ahead of a strong field of competitors from across the continent.
The victory adds yet another continental title to the Nigerian star’s impressive career and further underlines her dominance in the women’s sprint hurdles event over the past few years.

Home fans at the packed stadium also had reason to cheer as Ghana’s Evonne Britton produced a spirited display to finish fourth in the final.
Although she narrowly missed out on a medal place, Britton’s performance earned applause from supporters who backed her throughout the race against some of Africa’s top hurdlers.
The women’s 100m hurdles final was one of the headline events on day two of the championships.
