Our public record‑keeping system is an embarrassment. I recently requested an extract from the police about a matter from a few years ago, and the entire experience made me feel foolish for even trying. At a point, I genuinely regretted going that far.

The contrast with the Supreme Court is striking. All they needed was the case file reference — and instantly, everything was retrieved, no matter how many years had passed. That is how a proper institution should function. I know a few others, like the airport immigration services, also maintain solid records, but far too many public institutions are guilty of the opposite. After a couple of years, you might as well forget it.

There should be a strict national policy mandating proper record keeping — both digital and physical — across every public institution. We should not be hearing excuses like “we moved,” “the officer is no longer here,” or any other variation of that tired story.

Accurate, reliable, and accessible public records are not optional. They are essential.

If Mahama should start influencing the judiciary, the law can take him on because he would have been gilty of judiciary interference by the executive arm of government, and we'll be the very people accusing the president that he's manipulating the judiciary. It is the chief justice with the push of the AG who can faatrack the trial process of alleged corruption cases

The most corruption-infested construction projects were undertaken by contractors who undertook these projects for the police service of Ghana. A lot of these contractors who came for the approval and release of funds for most of these projects were semi-illitrates accompanied by young adult school leavers who acted as "goroboys" between them and clerks and contacts at the ministry!!! Unavailable or depleted funds, were suddenly created from "awam consolidated funds" and doled out for "noko fioo"..... things happened and are still happening all around folks!!

The people that ought to be rounded up, charged and prosecuted should be anyone who has served as IGP or deputies in the police service since Kufour's government, Kufour era minister of finance, minister of health, and anyone who disbursed taxpayer funds on the construction project if they cannot produce any and all documents on the contract and project.

Forget about who was corrupt. Let us concentrate on the documentation that legitimizes the construction and funding. Without the contract documents the project could not continue, contractors could not submit invoices for payment without contract number and both Controller General and ministry of finance could not have disbursed payment vouchers without project and contract numbers and funds/account number associated or linked to the construction project.
