Christianity and Islam are two different and in many case opposing religions.

Me as a Christian don't care about the handling of the Bible. This is because from my Sunday school days, i was taught that when is in me is greater than what is outside. That i will have to be Christ like and love my neighbour even if that neighbour has wronged me. We were taught to UNDERSTAND the content and context of the bible. We are not allowed to only recite words in the Bible but to understand it.

Islam on the other hand is a performative and political religion in nature. Please go read on how Mohammed started the religion and how he instructed Muslims to follow the religion.

I remember sometime ago, a Muslim colleague got to know that i was fasting. Her asked if i am a Muslim and as he got to know that i was not one, he asked if Christians also fast. I knew what he was doing there. I asked him that Jesus fasted and that Christians fasted long before Islam was formed. He tried to take offence because he knew exactly where that conversation was going in particular as i said fasting is something between you and your God.

With this simple conversation, his performative and politically driven Islamic mindset came up. You ask a Muslim critical things about the Quran and they will tell you that they are not a scholar.

Mind you. My mentor from the first job i did in London is a Muslim and we are still very close friend.

Qur'an 2: 285 says we don't discriminate among the prophets.
Qur'an 6:108 prohibits us from insulting other Deities or other people's God(s)

If her argument is to stand then it will not only be in Parliament but at the court and other places and events where the Bible or the Quran is used. Let's not bring division. Next time she will demand that since in the mosque men and women don't sit together in Parliament too there should be separation then we move on and on

This is not about fanaticism. It's about a people worshipping their God their way and handling their book the way they deem fit.

Why should you have issue with she saying how the Qur'an should be handled.
