It is sickening to see that even the President is going back on his words. He promised there will be no post retirement contracts for his appointees but what do we see. There are so many CEOs state owned organizations in his government who have been granted extension beyond their age of retirement.

Some times you begin to wonder if it all boils down to who brings a lot of kickbacks to the table.

He has no business being President if a foreign diplomat has to tell him what to do about galamsey. The President sat and watched his representatives operate a clueless galamsey plan that only publishes arrests of galamsey workers. Some of us, before Mahama became President, and after he began his second term, have stated on this site that the government needs to go after the owners and financiers of galamsey operations; that all persons found guilty, both citizens and non-citizens, must be made to serve prison sentences if they had big roles to play in the operations; that the government should have a law that allows confiscation of assets of galamsey owners and financiers, for that will help cripple their ability to continue financing their evil operations. Arresting galamsey workers without actively pursing the owners and financiers of galamsey operations is nothing but a meaningless plan. It's alarming to know that both the NPP and NDC administrations have been reluctant to have Chinese galamsey operators serve prison sentences in Ghana's prisons, and will instead have these foreign nationals deported when found guilty by the courts, and this has had the effect of enabling more Chinese to get into the galamsey business. Galamsey operators are destroying lands, waters, and not paying taxes on the gold that they mine illegally, while the various governments of Ghana have failed the people of Ghana by not having a well-thought of plan to effectively tackle the galamsey menace.
