This is leadership — protecting citizens, restoring dignity, and choosing diplomacy over political noise. Critics may say the support is not enough, but emergency intervention is about immediate relief, not solving every problem overnight.
I forgive the NPP for not holding the usual protests and press conferences, this issue requires careful diplomacy, not inflammatory politics that could worsen tensions. What is more worrying is how weak our culture of giving becomes during crises like this. We are quick to complain online, but slow to contribute, even in small ways. Little drops of water make a mighty ocean — if businesses, churches, and individuals all gave something small, the collective impact would be massive.

You also have to have courage, be willing to take calculated or informed risks, have perseverance, be willing to learn from your mistakes and adjust or make the necessary corrections .Also vital is the ability to plan and strategize in the short-term, medium-term and long-term .Our brothers and sisters who go abroad usually have set goals which they hope to accomplish within 5,10,15 or even 20 years before they return to Ghana. Of course, many Ghanaians discover very quickly after going abroad that what they experience is very different to what they expected before they left Ghana, but they make the necessary adjustments so that they can survive. On rare occasions life becomes unbearable and very dangerous as is happening in South Africa right now. In such situations the wisest course of action is to pack up and return home or go somewhere else abroad if you can.

But the most important thing is...how are they going to get jobs? Thousands and thousands of people in the country don't have jobs. And so this gesture is just a drop in the bucket. How are they going yo get jobs, how are they going to feed their families, how are they going to cater for their children's education, etc are some of the most important questions. The youths there don't have jobs, those who have worked for so many months have not been paid, especially teachers and nurses. And so what the government has done is not a big deal. By the way, some of them who have not been in the country for years will experience and be welcomed by " Dumsor " They will wonder which country are they now because there's no dumsor in South Africa. Many of these Ghanaian returnees will go on to start successful businesses and careers because they have a "get up and go" mentality and courage- that is why they went to South Africa in the first place. Even though many are returning without having achieved all the financial goals they set out to get their experience in South Africa is invaluable. Spending time in South Africa has been an education about making use of opportunities that cross one’s path. It has also helped them to value the good things back home in Ghana. Sometimes you need to travel abroad for a season before you start to truly appreciate your own motherland and people.
THEY ARE RETURNING AS BETTER PEOPLE EVEN THOUGH SOME MAY NOT YET REALISE THIS.
As for our black South African brothers and sisters they are rather to be pitied rather than disliked because they have a very long way to go to truly discover their own potential. Most South African blacks are light years away from any self-validation or having any self-worth. So please pray for them.

Most of these xenophobic south Africans have low educational background. Look at the way they are dressed. Their sense of entitlements has destroyed their mental faculties. Look at the way they reacted when Mandela was released and became the presidential candidate of the ANC. Most of them are descendants of the inkatha freedom party. They created mayhem in the lead up to the elections, wielding clubs and cudgels, chanting their songs, killing opponents. Nothing has changed with these people. They have killed their own southern African neighbors who came to work the goldfields and made south Africans rich. Posterity will judge them.

This is just unfortunate situation, but there's nothing Ghana government can do to South Africa. Is it not South Africa most of our elites, business people, chiefs, priests, and well to do people go whenever they are sick for treatment? Is it not South Africa when you go to the hospitals and lab tests are done,they tell you they are sending the tests to South Africa for results? Are some of the most important businesses in Ghana not owned by South Africans who have given employment to some of our youths? And so as much as we feel the pains for the treatment of our brothers and sisters in South Africa, there's nothing our government can do because we need them more than they need us.
