The family of late Ghana international Christian Atsu were among the notable attendees at the GFA-Ghana High Commission UK Talent Engagement Programme held in London.

Atsu’s wife, Mari Clare Rupio, together with their sons Joshua and Godwin, attended the event organised as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s future national teams through early talent identification and engagement with UK-based Ghanaian families.

The programme brought together parents of young Ghanaian footballers, football stakeholders, and key personalities connected to Ghanaian football.

The event formed part of the Ghana Football Association’s wider strategy to identify and develop young dual-national talents while encouraging stronger connections between Ghana and its diaspora communities through football.

Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien, Antoine Semenyo’s mother, Dela Efua Dzebu, and Tariq Lamptey’s father, Ahmed Lamptey, were also present at the engagement session.

The appearance of Atsu’s family added an emotional touch to the programme as Ghana football continues to honour the memory of the former Newcastle United winger, who remains one of the country’s most admired players.

The GFA initiative is expected to continue with a talent identification and scouting programme in the United Kingdom aimed at assessing promising young footballers eligible to represent Ghana.
