Rather they will apply for genuine visas and seek asylum based on ghana passing the new bill. Majority of persons to apply will be fake straight persons. That letter had nothing to do with President Akufo-Addo not wanting to sign the bill into law. The legal issue raised in the letter was eventually decided on by the Court, yet the President and staff kept telling Parliament to that the bill should stay where it is, in Parliament. Akufo-Addo didn't want to sign that bill because he feared there would actions taken against his administration by some organizations or governments in the West, and that could negatively impact on the NPP's re-election effort. If the did not want to sign the bill because of the legal challenge pending before the Supreme Court, then he would have signed when that challenge was adjudicated before the start of the elections. Akufo-Addo never had any intention of signing that bill, and the excuse about the legal challenge to the bill before the Supreme Court was just a convenient excuse for not acting on it. The President himself is a lawyer and should have been in a position to understand that the challenge had no legs to stand on, and his Attorney General too could have educated him on that challenge by letting him understand that the legal challenge before the Supreme Court was a premature action since the Court has no authority to decide on merits of that challenge given that there was no law in effect, only a bill. The Judicial branch can't dictate to the Legislative branch regarding what bills it can enact. President Akufo-Addo and staff employed arrogant bullying tactics to keep Parliament at bay regarding that bill, and it worked.

I see no value in that bill, especially since there's no evidence that the LGBQT community in Ghana numbers that many to or are a danger to Ghana society to warrant any concern. Besides, that group will use the courts to fight against what it perceives as selective persecution, not to mention those in other countries with economic might who may come to their aid by seeking sanctions against Ghana.
