Here's when Senior High School students resume academic work

Senior High School (SHS) and Senior High Technical School (SHTS) students across Ghana will return to classrooms on September 18, 2026, following the release of the 2026/2027 academic calendar by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The calendar, according to graphic.com.gh, issued on June 1, 2026, outlines academic activities for both single track and transitional schools, including semester dates, vacation periods, and examination schedules.

According to the schedule, Form One and Two students in single track schools will begin the academic year on September 18, 2026, and end on July 30, 2027.

Form Three students in both single-track and transitional schools will complete their academic year on June 18, 2027, coinciding with the conclusion of the 2027 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which runs from April 6 to June 18, 2027.

Transitional schools will continue operating a blended learning system, combining classroom instruction with online sessions.

The calendar also provides for a Christmas break from December 19, 2026, to January 4, 2027, and an Easter break from March 25 to March 30, 2027.

GES has urged school heads, teachers, parents, and students to take note of the calendar and make the necessary preparations for the upcoming academic year.
