The truth of the matter is that successive South African leaders chose to turn a blind eye to xenophobic attacks by their own citizens, perhaps because it conveniently helped to redirect the rage, anger and frustrations of increasingly impoverished Black South Africans away from their failing leadership to Black African immigrants.
The hens are now coming home to roost. Perhaps the current south African leadership has begun to understand that once all Black African immigrants leave their country, they will inevitably become the targets of the pent-up rage of their disenchanted black populations wallowing in filth and squalor in the black townships.

They have neglected in explaining these failures to their people but rather created the impression to them that African immigrants were their problems. The drastic reduction in ANC's votes from over 90% in 1994 to 52% in the last election is ample testament to the gargantuan failure by leadership. Ramaphosa and his leadership must admit absolute failure to the people and render unqualified apologies to SAs and the innocent African migrants whose countries sacrificed their comfort for the independence of Black SAs.
