Speaking about her son's condition in an interview with TV3 on Monday, June 8, 2026, Diana Oforiwaa said the teenager suffered injuries to his waist after jumping from the third floor of the building as it came crashing down.
According to her, her son had been assisting the building owner with carpentry work and was among the workers who spent the night at the site.
She explained that her son called her shortly after the incident and narrated what had happened.
"My son called me and told me that the building he was sleeping in had collapsed and that he had jumped from it. Due to the impact of the fall, he injured his waist and is now unable to sit," she said.
"The landlord had called him to assist with carpentry work on the building. Because of the nature of the construction work, they sometimes spend the night at the site and leave the next day. When he realised the building was collapsing, he jumped from the third floor," she stated.
She further disclosed that the teenager was initially taken to the Police Hospital before being transferred to the Emergency Unit of the Ridge Hospital for further treatment.
"The police initially took him to the Police Hospital, but he has since been transferred to the Emergency Unit of the Ridge Hospital. The doctors say he sustained injuries to his waist and cannot sit at all," she revealed.
