A group of persons believed to be Ghanaians living in South Africa have made an emotional appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to facilitate their evacuation, citing deteriorating living conditions and concerns for their safety.
In a video shared by WeLoveGhana on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on June 10, 2026, the distressed individuals said they had been left stranded and were struggling to cope with their circumstances.
The group, which included women and children, pleaded with the Ghanaian government to intervene and help them return home.

Speaking on behalf of the stranded persons, a visibly distraught woman who identified herself as Hajia said they had been forced to sleep outdoors for nearly two weeks.
โWe are sleeping outside. We have children among us. Many others are at other places and we have been here for nearly two weeks. Please, President John Mahama, come and help us,โ she pleaded.
The video captures the difficult conditions the group claims to be enduring, with several individuals gathered in what appeared to be a temporary shelter area.
Their appeal comes amid growing concerns over the welfare and safety of some foreign nationals in South Africa following reports of rising tensions and xenophobic attacks in parts of the country.
The stranded Ghanaians are urging the government to take swift action to ensure their safe return to Ghana, while also appealing for humanitarian assistance as they await support.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Ghanaian government regarding the group's appeal.
