Some of you think the floods in Accra started yesterday right. Once upon a time, a former leader in the person of Busia, suggested that huge drainage systems should be constructed to direct all excess waters into the sea, but that suggestion was met with insults to the extent that he was accused of "Trying to redirect the sea to Kumasi". This happened in the late 60s or early 70s and who is paying for being stupid and lack of "Simple understanding"?

Also, the total neglect to develop the rural areas is pushing people into the capital and other urban areas leading to such catastrophes

THE YEARLY FLOODS IN ACCRA CAN BE BLAMED ON CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENTS OF GREEN AREAS OF ABURI MOUNTAINS ,INDISCIPLINE BUILDINGS IN WATER AREAS.AND DISPOSAL OF REFUSE INTO WATER WAYS ,BLOCKED SEWAGES FOR WATER AND LACK OF PROPER PLANNING OF WATER WAYS OR TUNNELS DESIGNED TO DIVERT RAIN WATER INTO THE RIVERS AND SEA .ALSO CONCRETISATION OF ACCRA BY GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS AND COMPANIES HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO FLOODING BECAUSE RAIN WATER CAN NOT SEEP INTO THE SOIL.ANYMORE BUT ONLY FLOW ON THE SURFACE .I SUGGEST GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOW TAX RESIDENTS IN GREATER ACCRA FEE TO.RAISE FUNDS TO UNBLOCK SEWAGES,GUTTERS AND CREATION OF NEW BIG GUTTERS ,SEWAGES AND TUNNELS TO.SOLVE THESE SYSMATIC FLOODS IN ACCRA. AGAIN THERE SHOULD BE CLEAN EVENT IN EVERY MONTH TO DISTILL AND CLEAN UP ALL GUTTERS IN ACCRA.

It's all talk. It will be forgotten when the rains stop. Then they will start all over again next rainy season with more repetition talk.
