Then imagine that you're a poor man who can't afford a long and unbalanced legal process, even though the allegations against you are trivial. Or you'd rather spend your years in productive ways. What would you do? Consider the time wasted, anxiety, legal fees, notoriety, etc., and you'll understand.

This same lawyer complained that Wontumi's case is moving too fast. The public has always complained about how cases drag for so long in courts, and one would think that this lawyer will be glad that his client's case isn't dragging through the courts and causing him to spend more money defending himself. Wontumi knows that his case about to enter its final phase in court, and he's trying hard to use money to buy his freedom from prosecution. The AG should not be fooled by the crooked tactics that Wontumi now wishes to employ to kill his prosecution in exchange for paying some money to the State.

Any plea bargain must include jail time, otherwise there is no deterrence for others not to steal. The punishment must be severe punitive fine plus hard labour jail time.
