Andy Appiah-Kubi is Chairman Wontumi's lead counsel
Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi, counsel for Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has called for greater transparency in the handling of high-profile court cases.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Appiah Kubi suggested that proceedings in major cases should be broadcast to the public to promote openness and improve confidence in the justice system.
“Left to me, the Chief Justice should make them telecast high-profile cases so we all see what goes down in the court,” he said.
Drawing from his experience as a legal practitioner, he argued that Ghana’s justice system would benefit from reforms aimed at increasing public scrutiny and accountability.
“Per my experience, we need to correct ourselves,” he stated.
Appiah Kubi also maintained that he would continue to speak out whenever he believes injustice is taking place, regardless of the consequences.
“If it takes me to hand over my licence on the basis of injustice, I will. I don’t decorate my language when I feel I’m being cheated,” he said.
The lawyer stressed that he would not remain silent when he believes fairness and justice are being undermined.
