Ghana possesses the requisite talent, resilience and determination to compete at the highest level
Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, Lawrencia Dziwornu, has rallied support for the Black Stars and expressed confidence in Ghana's ability to achieve greater success on the world football stage.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on June 11, 2026, as the FIFA World Cup tournament begins, Dziwornu urged Ghanaians to unite behind the national team.
The 2026 World Cup is the first in history to be jointly hosted by three countries; the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Reflecting on Ghana's World Cup journey, she touched on Black Stars' achievements since their debut appearance at the tournament.
“From appearance of previous appearances to our landmark quarter-final feat in South Africa in 2010, the Black Stars have demonstrated that Ghana possesses the requisite talent, resilience and determination to compete at the highest level of world football,” she said.

She noted that Ghana's participation in previous World Cups has been marked by the outstanding performances of players who have brought honour to the country and raised its profile globally.
She called on citizens to use the tournament as an opportunity to celebrate Ghanaian culture and national pride.
“Let us proudly wear Ghana, celebrate our heritage and promote the greatness of our nation through this World Cup,” she stated.
Dziwornu also stressed the importance of investing in sports development, saying long-term success depends on proper planning and nurturing talent.
“We must also emphasise that sporting success does not happen by chance or overnight, but through the right investments, planning and nurturing of talent,” she indicated.
Expressing optimism about the future of Ghanaian football, she added: “I firmly believe that Ghana will one day become the first African country to win the FIFA World Cup if the aforementioned measures are put in place.”
