Ghanaian agritech company Complete Farmer has launched two digital platforms aimed at transforming agriculture by improving productivity, market access and transparency across the agricultural value chain.

The launch introduced the CF Grower and CF Buyerplatforms, innovative digital solutions designed to connect farmers directly with buyers while providing farmers with comprehensive technological support throughout their production cycle.

Speaking on behalf of the Director of PIAA, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, Programme Coordinator Emmanuel Owusu expressed confidence in the platforms, noting that the country's growing adoption of technology creates a strong foundation for digital agriculture.

"We believe Ghanaians will embrace these platforms, and with the right support, it can help improve productivity and market access across the agricultural ecosystem," he said

He noted that the platform would enable buyers to build reliable supply chains and source agricultural commodities directly from farmers in Ghana and across Africa.

Chief Executive Officer of Complete Farmer, Desmond Koney, said the platform was inspired by his personal experiences growing up in a farming family.

"My dad was a farmer and my grandfather was a farmer. I felt the need to change the narrative of farmers," Koney explained.   "My background is in mechanical engineering, and I wanted to bring more efficiency into agriculture. How do we ensure that farmers are able to grow crops successfully and also sell them successfully? Complete Farmer serves as the bridge between buyers and farmers, enabling them to transact and do business smoothly."

According to Koney, the newly launched platforms will improve sourcing experiences for buyers while providing farmers with an end-to-end digital operating system that supports their entire farming journey.

The CF Grower platform offers services such as land mapping, crop and soil recommendations, crop-specific agronomic models and guided farming activities. The platform is designed to help farmers make informed decisions and improve productivity from planting to harvest.

"For the first time, farmers can have an end-to-end operating system guiding them through their farming journey," Koney said. "It brings together key stakeholders in the farming ecosystem and enables them to operate more efficiently."

Executive Director of the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, commended Complete Farmer's growth journey, describing it as a testament to the power of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Reflecting on his early interactions with the company, Gyan-Kesse noted that what began as a simple idea nearly a decade ago has evolved into a thriving African agribusiness.

"Nine years ago when I met Desmond, it was just an idea. Today it is a full-blown African business," he said. "Young startups come with energy, ambition and conviction.

At the time there was no proof, but today we are seeing the results."   Marketing Manager of Complete Farmer, Weetsa Adinku, described the launch as more than a technology unveiling, emphasising its broader significance for agriculture and food systems.

"At the heart of everything we do is agriculture, and at the heart of agriculture is the journey from farm to table," she said. "Every connection we create, every transaction we enable, and every solution we build is designed to make that journey more efficient, transparent and rewarding for everyone involved."

Adinku added that the platforms are intended to empower farmers, expand market access, improve transparency and create opportunities across the agricultural ecosystem.

She also acknowledged the contributions of farmers, customers, partners, investors, government representatives and members of the Complete Farmer team who helped make the project possible.

Chief Technology Officer of Complete Farmer, Kola Olajide, highlighted the role of technology and artificial intelligence in supporting food sustainability across Africa.

"Food sustainability is key for the continent, and the more we can support local production, the more prosperous the continent will be," he said.

Olajide revealed that the platform incorporates advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence-powered crop analysis that allows farmers to use their mobile phones to identify crop deficiencies and receive recommendations.

"Now you can use your phone to scan a crop, and it can tell you where the deficiencies are," he explained.   Addressing concerns about connectivity challenges in rural areas, Olajide said the company has developed a strong network of field agents and incorporated offline functionality into the platform.

"Our agent network can use the app even in areas without internet access. Once connectivity is restored, the data synchronizes automatically," he said.

He added that the application has been designed to be lightweight and user-friendly, ensuring accessibility for smallholder farmers and users with basic mobile devices.
