So yes, until criminal law, you are innocent until proven guilty but under an immigration law, the saw standard does not apply. The section of the Canadian Immigration law that might have prevented the player from entering Canada is paragraph 36(1)(C) of the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act as seen below.

Serious criminality

36 (1) A permanent resident or a foreign national is inadmissible on grounds of serious criminality for

(a) having been convicted in Canada of an offence under an Act of Parliament punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of at least 10 years, or of an offence under an Act of Parliament for which a term of imprisonment of more than six months has been imposed;

(b) having been convicted of an offence outside Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute an offence under an Act of Parliament punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of at least 10 years; or

What difference does it make if the crime charged carries a term of five or ten years imprisonment? The immigration law that you reference still relies on criminal law to deny entry to persons accused of certain crimes even though these accused persons have not been convicted for those crimes.

No problems next time Canadian delegation is coming to Ghana look at the Head of Delegation and deny him/her visa citing in Ghana we don't wear suits. We are colour blind whenever we see them. Reciprocal respect.
