Alexander Afenyo-Markin is the Minority Leader
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin left Parliament in stitches after playfully declaring himself “better in the Ewe language” than fellow lawmakers John Dumelo and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings during proceedings in the House.
The Effutu MP sparked laughter when he confidently stated that, as an Anlo man, he could not be intimidated, challenging Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to an Ewe language battle on the floor of Parliament.

Addressing the chamber amid a light-hearted exchange, Afenyo-Markin said, “I’m an Anlo man; they can’t intimidate me. I’m better than Dumelo and Zanetor.”
His comments immediately drew laughter from Members of Parliament, with the atmosphere in the chamber turning jovial.
The Minority Leader then turned his attention to the Klottey Korle MP, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, daring her to match him in speaking the Ewe language.
“I can compete with Zanetor in Ewe any day,” he said jokingly, further sending the chamber into hearty laughter.
The playful moment appeared to ease tensions in the House, as MPs across both sides of the aisle were seen laughing and engaging in friendly banter.
John Dumelo, the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, are both known for their public appeal and strong personalities, making Afenyo-Markin’s remarks even more amusing to colleagues in the chamber.
