The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced that the producer price of cocoa will remain unchanged for the upcoming 2025/26 Light Crop Season, despite a fall of the commodity price on the international market.

The government is maintaining the current producer price at GH¢1,241.76 per load of 30 kilograms for Grade I and II cocoa beans.

This translates to GH¢2,587.00 per bag of 64 kilograms gross, with a full tonne (equivalent to 16 bags) valued at GH¢41,392.00.

According to a press release signed by Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control (A&QC) at COCOBOD, Dr. Francis Baah, purchases of cocoa for the light crop will begin on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The government also emphasized its commitment to shielding cocoa farmers from the volatility of global markets.

“The decision underscores Government’s commitment to protecting the incomes and livelihoods of cocoa farmers, even as international cocoa prices experience a downward trend,” the statement read.

COCOBOD further stated that they aim at providing much-needed stability and confidence to farmers as the new season approaches, hence keeping the prices stable.
