How a suspected phone thief was dealt with by angry youth at Maaban

A suspected phone thief had portions of his hair forcibly shaved off after he was apprehended by angry youth at Maaban in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

A video shared on social media by the State News on June 13, 2026, shows the suspect seated while two men first use scissors and later a razor blade to cut his hair as bystanders watched.

The suspect was also seen with injuries, bleeding from the face, and crying out in pain during the ordeal.

According to eyewitnesses, he was accused of stealing a mobile phone.

Instead of being handed over to the police immediately, he was subjected to mob punishment, with residents cutting his hair using a blade before a crowd of onlookers.
