This is unacceptable. Yes it’s important to help ones community but that doesn’t mean those who fail to help aren’t part of the community.

Let’s not forget the community had every right to boycott participating in the funeral as that was the best way to register their protest. That would have sent a strong signal to other indigenes to help build their communities.

At least our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents laid the foundation by putting up educational infrastructures in our communities for us to leverage on in shaping our lives. In as much as we don’t necessarily get any support from any individual within our communities except our parents, that doesn’t mean the community never helped in shaping us.

Restraining the family from burying him is a way of hindering the burial of the departed and that constitutes breach of provisions according to the laws of the country.

The family head must be arrested by the District police and Environmental officers because this constitutes a health hazard.In some districts the family head pays a fee for the burial with townfolks deciding to attend or boycott the funeral.In some towns too if the family want to bury their dead member and hold the funeral elsewhere they pay a fee (eg.ghc5,000).
