Making his World Cup debut, Yirenkyi sealed a dramatic 1-0 win for Ghana, a result that lifted the team’s opening campaign and sparked celebrations back home.
The goal also put Yirenkyi’s name into Ghanaian football history as he became the 10th different player to score for the Black Stars at a FIFA World Cup, adding another milestone to Ghana’s growing tournament legacy.
At just twenty years, Yirenkyi has also made him history as the youngest Ghanaian to score at the tournament, adding another milestone to an incredible debut.
