Why can’t these students pursue their studies University Education in Ghana? How were the Scholarships awarded for them to school in the UK? Does the Government of Ghana award scholarships to students studying in Ghana? Hmmmm. Let them go on all the massive demonstrations that they can and when they are tired, they will stop.
I know of many students in Uncle Sam’s country who are working and having their Graduate Degrees at the same time. This includes three of my own children. In the Developed West, one can have scholarships because of Academic Excellence, Sports among others. In Ghana, people are awarded scholarships because of Political Affiliation of Parents or relatives in Government. I know many Ghanaian and Nigerian students who are working and studying for their Master’s and Doctoral Degrees. Let the support Ghanaian students work and pay for their education in the UK. Many Africans do just that. And after the country spending so much money on their education and welfare in the USA, how many of them will come back to Ghana to work at deprived areas to help the country. Many people from the North of Ghana like Mahama and Bawumia have never worked or lived in their locality to help the people there to better their lot.
Are students studying in Ghanaian universities taken much care of by the Government? They don’t even have employment after Graduation. I have a nephew who has remained unemployed after Graduation from KNUST. Now, he sells Bottled Water for him to survive and take care of his family. . Just leave those Demonstrators to fool about in the UK and expect to be fed with Manna from Heaven.

All the courses that during a certain Agyeman's era as Director General of the Scholarship Secretariat you idiots were sent to do at Loughborough University, are all those courses not offered at universities in ghana. Most of you guys crying know deep in your hearts that you are not deserving of those scholarships because during the previous government there wasn't any proper criteria for these awards so all sorts of characters were offered these awards to read courses that are offered by all universities in ghana. Is it any wonder that most of these students are at Loughborough university and the like? If a proper aptitude test were to be conducted today for a reselection most of you guys will fail but because of a corrupt Director General and government this is where we find ourselves. Who doesn't know most of you guys bought those scholarships during the period npp was in power? And yet here you are creating a scene and a spectacle to embarras the high commissioner and government, instead of being humble so that the problem can be solved. Truly, Truly nkwaseafu) indeed!!!!!

How many unqualified Ghanaians were sent to study Medicine in Cuba for just four years and came back less knowledgeable than an experienced Ward Assistant and Junior Nurse at the Hospital. Yes, there was a supposed Eastern Trained Medical Doctor in charge of Suhum Government Hospital known as “Dr.’ Mabel who knew next to nothing. He could not single handedly help pregnant women to deliver babies. Experienced Nurses always had to be called to come to his aid. Any serious case was referred to Koforidua Central Government Hospital. Was that not strange?
And at Kibi, the District Medical Doctor was funnily enough a Veterinary Doctor who could not perform any surgery during the Delivery of Children. I lived and worked at ABUSCO and know what I am talking about. Almost all serious medical issues were referred to Koforidua, Nsawam or Kor le Bu..
According to what I understand, there are a so many Medical Doctors in Ghana that there are no places to place them. Where did they train.
I have lived in Uncle Sam’s country for over three Decades and have an Indian Physician that I go to help during vacations and weekends. I have never schooled as a Medical Doctor but can confidentially say that I can do some functions that Medical Doctors and Physician Assistants do. Medical Work is by Practice. So after Thirty Years of working with a very qualified Medical Doctor, tell me what I can’t do. If I can’t do what the Doctors do, then I will be a Dunderhead. I have never practiced any Medicine on my own because it is illegal, a Felony and very wrong and unacceptable.
Growing up in Wiamoase in the Ashawo Region in the early Sixties, the whole district had no hospitals and the Salvation Army Church had a clinic where the supposed “Doctors ‘ treated Patients and sent reasonable serious cases to KATH which was called GINN at that time. Let us give Scholarships to qualified students for courses or Specializations that are not offered in Ghana. Partisan Politics and Tribalism is killing and ruining our country.

I wish you can identify a needy student who applied and was not awarded because the scholarships were being offered for sale like yams at agbogbloshie market. As for your story about the doctors who trained in eastern Europe on scholarships I refuse to believe it. Are you aware that doctors trained abroad are subjected to exams by the medical and dental council before they are allowed to practise in this country?As I speak i have a niece who trained in the china and failed that exam when she wrote it last year. That is how rigorous the Ghanaian system can be. But my dear Frank when it comes to the Scholarship Secretariat in ghana over the last 8 years the stories about it are so horrible simply because there was no proper criteria for awards. Because these things happened during the era of a government we are quick to generalise and scream from the roof tops about partisan politics but the truth must be told so that if possible we can shame those who corrupt their offices!!!!!!

I graduated from UCC Over three decades ago and successfully taught at the Sixth Form and the Teacher Training college before I came to Uncle Sam’s country. When I decided to continue with my Teaching Career, I was required to undertake some courses in TAKING CARE IF STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. It is a requirement for someone to be certified. When I applied for my Doctorate Degree, I had to take a loan and work for that purpose. And the cost for the University Education is not a joke in Uncle Sam’s country. It will surprise many Ghanaians to learn that Obama was paying for his Educational loans even when he was the President of the USA. One cannot file for Bankruptcy under any reason on Students’ Loans. Obama could finally pay off his student loans when he made some research and publications and made some money.
Ghana is a poor Developing country and I don’t see the need to people, especially the children of Politicians and well placed people in Ghana to be given Government Scholarships to study for courses that can be afforded in Ghana. That is part of the Dirty Political Games that go on in Ghana. I know Mahatma had a Russian Government Educational Scholarship that was paid by the Russian Government. Akuffo Addo had a British and France Scholarships to study in Britain and France after his graduation from Legon. They were not paid by the Government of Ghana because he is from an affluent family where he could be taken care of. My beef is why can’t we allow our children to study in the various Universities in Ghana where they can be affordable and do not involve any Hard Currencies? Are we that stupid? Rawlings sent his children to study Medicine and other Subjects that could be studied in Ghana. How did he afford to pay for them? He lied to Ghanaians that his friend paid for them but couldn’t tell who was that friend. What does he take Ghanaians for? Some useless people who can be cheated, bullied and lied to? Finally, many Ghanaians learned that he used Ghana’s money to fund their education. Yet he came to preach to the gullible Ghanaians that he came to Ghana to sweep corruption from the system. Finally, the man who fed his family with credited Yor Ke Gari and the wife became the richest family in Ghana.His evil and wickedness made him die from a simple Covid Virus attack.
I will strongly suggest that the affected students should be made to work for their food, clothing, shelter, and medication in Britain or come back home to join us to suffer with us. NKWASEAFO, YOU LIVE IN GOOD APPARTMENTS, GET GOOD MEDICATION, AND CONSTANT AND REGULAR SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY, WATER AND GAS. Come back to Ghana and join the struggling and suffering lot.

We sometimes meet only on Sundays as a family for just about three hours and they will be gone again to take care of their own businesses. I sometimes wonder the number of beneficiaries from such government scholarships whom have returned after the pursuit of their education abroad to do something significant to help this country of ours.

I think it’s time for us to demand accountability from all beneficiaries of such scholarships in the past.

We need clear data from authorities to know how the nation has benefited from such beneficiaries.

Am afraid lodging a complaint in the UK can’t suffice since where the purported incident took place is Ghana’s jurisdiction and is Ghana hence the UK doesn’t have the jurisdiction to investigate there, just as the authorities in Ghana can’t investigate whatever happens in UK, US etc embassies in Accra because those facilities serves as the country’s that owns them here’s jurisdictions.

It’s high time you guys know that some of you dubiously acquired the so called scholarships under the erstwhile administration and didn’t possibly deserved it.

Besides her knowing it all is what had landed her the alleged consequences she is currently going through. It has been said time and again that, you don’t record people without their consent whatsoever.

I will tell those students to have means of stabilizing their status in the UK through marriages, Sports, or Academic excellence. If they make a mistake and come back to Ghana now or deported, their lives will be wrecked and horrible because there are no jobs available for them. And even if there are, they will work for many years without salaries or allowances. Ghana has been ruined by Politicians since the time of Nkrumah. The well paid jobs are Political and One Man/ Women churches where false prophecies are always given to the ALWAYS BELIEVING Ghanaian people to expect Manna from Heaven.

That is not how it works in the USA, Canada and the Western World. The Government will take care of your tuition and sometimes part of your Boarding and Lodging but not everything about the stay and education in the USA. Many of them never knew of that. The Government of Ghana should relate that to them to work and pay for their Boarding and Lodging or come back to Ghana and eat Gari and Beans, KOKO SAKORA without Bread and Kenkey without any Fried Fish or Fufu with AKRANTE STINKING SOUP or Goat meat. Go to Europe, America and Canada and see how many Chinese people are studying in their universities you will be shocked. That’s why china is developing so fast and many of them are government scholarships. We want to develop our country without educating our people how possible is that Ghana will forever remain the same with this kind of attitude. Two hundred thousand pounds is a lot of money the government can make arrangements with the university and get a payment plan and pay little every month. But to sit there and do nothing about it will not solve the problem it’s part of our national debt.
