I hope that next time, these child-spoiler parents will present Dreamliners to their children when they graduate from universities with Master's Degrees or PhDs. Gifting children with cars in the developed world is nothing special, but that cannot be the norm in poverty-ridden African countries. These presentations could be done in their private homes, and not in the presence of school colleagues. We are sending the wrong messages.

It is unethical and show of wealth to do this. Why should rich parents reward their children who have just written WASSCE? Whether they will pass their exams or not, they are not concerned about that. That implies that, no matter what, those parents know what they have done and so they are sure of their wards obtaining good results. Passing by foul means. How do they expect the other students to feel? Fishing for your child without teaching her how to fish on her own is the worst thing a parent will do for his child. Will he ever think of working to earn money? No. She will always request for financial help because that is what she has been thought to do. This is what we call poor parenting.

Even though I could afford, my concern was for the pupils whose parents cannot afford. How will they feel?
