The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, has raised concerns over a recent donation made to the Ghana Police Service by a person he claims was previously cautioned in connection with investigations into the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

In a Facebook post dated June 20, 2026, Abronye stated that the individual had been invited, interrogated, cautioned and later granted bail as part of investigations into Suale’s death.

He noted that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had earlier indicated that investigations into the case were still ongoing.

He questioned whether the investigation could remain independent after the Ghana Police Service received a pickup vehicle and motorbikes from the same individual.

“Has the investigation been compromised?” Abronye questioned in his post.

Abronye also alleged that the same person recently threatened him during a television appearance and questioned why the police had not responded to the alleged remarks.

He further indicated that he intends to file a petition before the United Nations Security Council against the individual and the Ghana Police Service.

Although Abronye did not mention any name in his statement, his comments appeared to refer to former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, who has publicly been linked to investigations concerning Suale’s murder.

The development comes after Kennedy Agyapong, as part of activities marking his 66th birthday, donated a pickup vehicle and several motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service.
