The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security personnel in connection with a shooting incident at a residence linked to the family of former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

In a statement issued on June 21, 2026, and signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the Police confirmed that the arrests were made following investigations into the incident that occurred at Kwabenya.

According to the statement, officers retrieved several weapons and equipment during a search operation.

These include five pump-action shotguns, a Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition, as well as communication devices believed to have been used by the security team.

Preliminary investigations indicate that personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate, who were on special duty, responded to a distress call from a residence in Kwabenya.

Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered that a gathering was taking place at the home of Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena.

The Police further explained that during the event, Adwoa Safo reportedly arrived at the premises and requested entry but was denied access.

Tensions escalated shortly after, leading to the alleged discharge of firearms by some of the private security personnel stationed at the residence.

The incident reportedly resulted in injuries to Adwoa Safo, while her vehicle was also found to have sustained multiple gunshot damages.

All six suspects, along with the retrieved weapons and equipment, have since been moved to the Police Headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations.

Authorities say efforts are underway to identify and apprehend any additional individuals connected to the case.
