Is Adwoa Sarfo and her former partner Kennedy Agyapong becoming some of the most polarizing political figures in the NPP and Ghana?

From the alleged part she is said to have played in handing over the speakership of Ghana’s parliament to the opposition figure Alan Osman Bagbin; the opposition NDC candidate and a very openly partisan former majority leader of parliament due to the seemingly beef between her as Minister of Gender and Social Welfare and the widow of one of Ghana’s brave men “comrade Quashiga’s” Mrs. Gertrude Quashiga, who was serving in her capacity as the Coordinator of the School Feeding Program.

That’s the aftermath of President Akuffo-Addo intervention in installing the later back to her position after Adwoa Sarfo terminated her appointment. Due to that failed scenario of power brokering temerity of Adwoa. The Former MP of Dome Kwabenya and Minister of Gender and Social Welfare obviously relocated to the United States in the similitude of a AWOL for many months in lieu of seeking medical treatment for one of her kids. An action many experts described as just deliberate punishment for the NPP and the Akuffo-Addo administration.

Her move incessantly undermined NPP attempts to move many of their most important policies through the Parliament of Ghana because of the fact that there was a deadlocked at Ghana’s parliament for first time in Ghana’s history — and also the fact that both the NPP and NDC had the same number of parliamentary seats with only independent candidate to the advantage to the NPP. So Adwoa’s absence brought a lot of inconveniences to the NPP caucus. It even escalated to the point that the NDC at some stage accused the ruling NPP of presenting fake Adwoa’s look alike to vote for them during one of Ghana’s most contentious policy debates at the parliament.

That one move by Adwoa Sarfo was so disastrous to the NPP and there was no way the party could navigate around or to mitigate the damage since the Speaker of Parliament Allan Bagbin being undoubtedly partisan also made it totally impossible for the Akufffo-Addo administration and its super thin majority in Ghana’s August House to successfully move any one of the administration’s financial and fiscal policy bills through the parliament without ensuing a Supreme Court battle.

Trust me, this is one of the reasons the NPP lost the 2024 elections to such unimaginable magnitude. And as if that was enough of damaging punishment for the NPP to regret their sins against her, something that should have been quite satisfying to her , and made her soften her stance against the party. Not as much as I and others remember. There was also another issue that involved this same woman, “Adwoa Sarfo” and Mike Oquaye Junior who defeated Adwoa Sarfo at the NPP parliamentary primaries. When it got to the general elections, the NPP officials at the Dome Kwabenya Constituency came out to blame Adwoa’s Sarfo for denying Mike Oqueye candidacy some of the resources he really needed to contest the elections— one of the reasons he also lost the seat to NDC’s Elikplim Akorugo or whatever. It even became quite obvious that Adwoa Sarfo was openly supporting the opposition candidate through her statements and comments.

These are some of the chronicles of Adwoa’s Sarfo adverse actions that helped sank the prospects of NPP chances of winning the 2024 elections.

My advice to Adwoa is that: to me she looks like a very wonderful woman on the outside, but those attributes don’t seem reflect her deeds, especially on the political stage. So I’m advising her be very cautious about how she handles or reacts to sentimentally contentious issues. She also has to work on her temperament in respect to how she barely ever allow people to get away when they step on her toes without setting a stage for a damaging vendetta against her offending parties.
