Veteran journalist and host of Okay FM's Ade Akye Abia, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, has offered his perspective on the controversy surrounding the shooting incident involving Adwoa Safo and her brother, Nana Akofena, at the latter’s residence over the weekend.

Speaking on his Omanhene show, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese dismissed claims that Adwoa Safo’s actions were motivated by a desire to assume leadership of the Kristo Asafo movement.

'Akofena sold cars to Duncan-Williams under pretence' - Osebo alleges

He explained that the dispute stems from an earlier family understanding that no successor should be installed to lead Kristo Asafo until the late founder, Nana Safo Kantanka, is laid to rest.

According to him, the doctrines and traditions of Kristo Asafo Mission do not permit a woman to be crowned as the leader of the fellowship, which disputes allegations that Adwoa Safo acted out of personal interest

“In Kristo Asafo, a woman cannot be a leader of the fellowship, so her being there had nothing to do with your coronation. She was solely there because an injunction was put on crowning a successor when the man had not been buried,” he stated, arguing that Adwoa Safo’s actions were not out of personal interest

Kwame Nkrumah Tikese claimed that, contrary to the injunction and the family’s prior agreement, some church elders allegedly went against that agreement by proceeding with Nana Akofena’s installation before the burial of the movement’s founder.

“There was no family member present; it was reported that some elders of the church took the initiative to crown Akofena,” he said

According to the broadcaster, Adwoa Safo’s attempt to gain access to Nana Akofena’s residence and her insistence on delaying the coronation were aimed at ensuring that the family’s agreement was respected rather than advancing any personal ambition to lead the church.
