The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has disclosed that only about 5% to 10% of Samreboi has been affected by flooding.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV on June 23, 2026, he said heavy torrential rains in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality caused the Samre and Tano rivers to overflow their banks, leading to flooding in parts of Samreboi.

According to him, the impact has largely been contained to riverside communities, particularly low-lying areas where rising water levels have disrupted daily activities and caused temporary displacement.

“Only about 5% to 10% of Samreboi has been affected by the flooding, mainly residents living close to the Tano and Samre rivers,” he said.

Joseph Nelson further indicated that a report on the situation has been submitted to the appropriate authorities, with further interventions expected to support affected residents and restore normalcy.

"A report has been done and has been submitted to the appropriate quarters. I believe that some other interventions will come to support them, to make their lives better," he noted.

The minister assured that monitoring is ongoing as emergency teams continue to keep watch on river levels in vulnerable communities to prevent further escalation.
