Ghana head into their biggest test of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage with a refreshed starting XI, as Carlos Queiroz names his side for the crucial clash against England on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The Black Stars appear set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with one of the major talking points being the return of Thomas Partey to the starting line-up after missing the opening game against Panama.

His comeback is a major boost for Ghana, who will hope his experience and composure can help them cope with England’s quality in midfield.

In goal, Benjamin Asare keeps his place after stepping in during the win over Panama, while Marvin Senaya starts at right-back. The centre-back pairing of Jerome Opoku and Jonas Adjetey is retained, with Gideon Mensah continuing at left-back.

The midfield sees a blend of steel and energy, with Partey joined by Panama hero Caleb Yirenkyi and Kwasi Sibo.

Yirenkyi, who scored the dramatic winner in Ghana’s opener, will now look to carry that confidence into one of the toughest fixtures of his young career.

In attack, captain Jordan Ayew keeps his place and is expected to lead the line, supported by Iñaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo on the flanks.
