A firefighter assisting in the elevator rescue
A foreign national has been safely rescued after being trapped in an elevator at a hotel at Osu in Accra.
According to a post shared by The State Newss on social media on June 24, 2026, the incident occurred when the lift malfunctioned, leaving the occupant stuck inside.
Staff of the hotel subsequently alerted the Ghana Fire Service after attempts to open the elevator doors manually proved unsuccessful.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived promptly at the scene and carried out a technical rescue operation.
Using a battery-powered hydraulic spreader, the team carefully forced open the elevator doors to create enough space to reach and safely evacuate the trapped individual.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reported to be in stable condition after the rescue operation.
