The Senior Production Manager of KOFA, Nii Lous Nelson, has outlined the company's vision of driving Africa's transition to clean energy, explaining that the business is focused on making sustainable power more accessible through innovative battery technology.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb during the Fan Zone and Community Cup watch party at KOFA's headquarters in Spintex on June 23, 2025, he explained that the company's name reflects its mission.
"The Twi language means 'go and get it,' right? The company, KOFA, is an energy access company," he said.
According to him, KOFA currently provides batteries and battery-swapping services primarily for electric motorcycles, enabling riders to conveniently access clean energy through its growing network of swap stations.

"Our main customers today are electric motorcycle users. We provide energy for their motorcycles by supplying batteries and giving them access to our swap stations," he explained.
He noted that the company's broader objective is to reduce dependence on fossil fuels by promoting cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy.
"The goal or aim of KOFA is to help in the transition to clean energy, doing it one product at a time, starting with mobility," he said.
Nelson stressed that Africa's rapidly growing population will significantly increase energy demand in the coming years, making sustainable energy solutions more critical than ever.
"Energy infrastructure is not increasing as quickly as our population is, so you will have a lot more people needing energy," he stated.
He added that clean energy solutions would enable businesses and industries to continue operating efficiently while reducing their environmental impact.
Looking ahead, he revealed that KOFA's ambitions extend beyond Ghana.
"The target is the whole of Africa. Ghana is the first country where KOFA started, and we are also operational in Kenya. The goal is to expand the technology that KOFA offers for sustainable energy across the African continent," he said.
