  One wonders the ECG and the poor job they are doing in helping to prevent outages (dumso) and yet, the high cost of electricity in the country. Infact, the last thing we would expect from the system is taxes on rooftop solar power systems. The more people are able to generate their own electricity like from solar panels, which is clean on the environment, the less demand on the EGC system. Rather EGC should invest in Netmetering technology which houseplants with solar can sell their solar generated electricity back into the national grid during their peak production period and at night draws some or all of it back ad use it. In a well designed environment, rooftop solar homes can bank more generated power with ECG and at the end of the month the system will calculate whether they used more or less of their generated solar power or electricity and send the cash back or a bill of the amount of electricity they used from ECG above what their solar system generated and sent to the grid. That is how my house in Florida solar system is designed. When I had my system installed, the State gave me a thirty percent rebate so I paid only sixty percent of the total cost. I am enjoying my system. My neighbors without solar on their rooftops are cry because of their high electricity bills every month. The difference is like day and night. It’s a shame that a country where sunshine is in abundance and free, yet solar adoption is not to write home about. There are other and better ways to receive taxes but solar adoption should not be one of them all. Instead, the government must provide incentives like zero to rebate for those who adopt solar for their home use.
