Ken Ofori-Atta is a former Minister of Finance
Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has linked former President John Dramani Mahama to his position on accountability in the case involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
He said the Mahama he knows would not allow any individual to avoid legal responsibility.
"President Mahama that I know, he will not even allow you the opportunity to say you are running away," he revealed on TV3's Keypoints.
Edudzi Tameklo made the comment while reacting to concerns over Ofori-Atta's absence from Ghana amid ongoing legal processes.
He stressed that public accountability systems should not allow individuals under scrutiny to leave jurisdiction without responding to the process.
According to him, the expectation is that individuals facing inquiry should remain available to answer questions from relevant institutions.
“Let us not bury our heads in the sand and pretend this thing was not well orchestrated,” he added.
He maintained that accountability should operate consistently regardless of the profile of the individual involved.
