Several vehicles at Tse Addo submerged by floodwaters
Heavy early morning rains that began on Sunday, June 28, and continued into Monday, June 29, 2026, have caused flooding across several parts of Accra, leaving roads submerged, disrupting traffic, and causing significant damage in low-lying communities.
At Tse Addo, several vehicles parked in front of apartment buildings were almost completely submerged in floodwaters as water levels rose rapidly following the downpour.

The heavy rainfall also affected major parts of the capital, with commuters facing severe delays as key roads became impassable or partially submerged.
Traffic flow slowed significantly across several routes during the morning rush hour.
Areas reported to be affected include the N1 Highway, Apenkwa, Tesano, Accra–Kasoa stretch, Weija, Mallam, Achimota, Spintex, Adabraka, Atomic (Madina), Kaneshie, Darkuman Junction, and sections of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange.
In several of these locations, motorists were forced to navigate through deep floodwaters, while others abandoned their vehicles entirely.
Some homes and shops in flood-prone communities were also inundated, with residents moving belongings to safer ground as water levels continued to rise.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Meteorological Agency has predicted continued rainfall of varying intensity across coastal and inland areas.
The agency indicated that the rain, whether accompanied by thunder or not, is expected to persist throughout the forecast period, with patches of mist or fog likely over forested and mountainous regions.
It further warned that a weak to moderate rainstorm observed along the Togo–Benin coastline is expected to move westward, increasing cloud cover and triggering thunderstorms and rainfall over southern Ghana from the morning into the afternoon hours.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of the Interior has advised motorists to avoid flooded routes and urged residents in flood-prone areas to remain cautious, as further rainfall could worsen already difficult conditions.
