Dr Bawumia reacts to Accra floods after heavy rains

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed concern over the recent floods that have affected several people across the country.

In a message shared on his Facebook page on Monday, June 29, 2026, Dr Bawumia sympathised with victims who have lost relatives, homes and property as a result of the disaster.

“This morning, my thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of our people affected by the floods.

“My deepest sympathies to those who have lost their loved ones, properties, and those who have been forced out of their homes,” he shared.

Dr Bawumia who is the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urged the public to obey directives from the government and work closely with agencies handling the situation.

“I urge citizens to comply with all directives issued by the Government and to cooperate fully with institutions mandated to address the situation,” he emphasised.

The former Vice President also called on emergency services and other authorities to step up efforts to support affected persons.

“I also urge the emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them,” he urged.

He expressed hope that the country will overcome the situation through unity and support for one another.

“We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another. May God bless our homeland Ghana,” he concluded.

Dr Bawumia’s message follows flooding in parts of Accra after continuous rains from Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday June 29, 2026.

Areas hard hit by the floods includes Shiashie, Tse Addo, Kaneshie and Circle, among others.
