Michael Brett Odoom said he has lost everything to the floods
Fashion designer Michael Brett Odoom, founder of The Cultured Man (Nateev), has suffered significant losses after floodwaters submerged his factory at Tse Addo in Accra following heavy rains on Monday, June 29, 2026.
The floods destroyed tailoring machines, finished suits, branded souvenirs, fabrics, and other equipment, making further production impossible.
Speaking in a video shared by The1957News on June 30, 2026, after inspecting the damage, Odoom said the floods first hit his home before sweeping through his factory, destroying almost everything he owned.

"I wasn't here, so you know my people were here and we woke up to this natural disaster which came and then the whole place was left flooded. First of all, it started from my house, everything is gone. I couldn't even take anything. This outfit is not even mine, I had to take it from someone else to wear," he said.
He said the floodwaters left the factory filled with mud, making it difficult to determine the extent of the damage or where to begin the cleanup.
"I came to the factory and everything is sitting in water and mud, machines, fabrics, everything is gone. The whole place is messed up and we don't even know where we are picking up from. “We don't even know where we are starting from now, that's the thing now. I don't know what to do now, everything is soaked,” he continued.
Odoom explained that all the tailoring machines had been affected, but it was too early to know whether they could still be used because they were covered in mud.
"We can't just pick anything… even though it's affected every machine here, I can't even tell the level of damage because everything, all the machines are covered in mud. So, we are just trying to clean the place. There were even snakes in the water.
"You could see snakes in the water; the whole place was flooded to the top. So, they were all trying to find a place to be; it was scary,” he stated.
He added that the showroom, production area, and clients' items were all submerged, bringing work at the factory to a halt.
"This is the showroom, this is where we had everything, and then that side is where the machinery is. This is the level of the water, so soaked everything. See the machines, clients, fabrics, and everything have been soaked up. There's nothing to take from here,” he added.
The fashion designer also disclosed that some of the damaged equipment was worth about GH¢65,000 and would have to be discarded.
"I don't have anything. I'm a fashion designer, my home is flooded, my shop is flooded. We have to dispose all these things off,” he disclosed.
